EMEND contains the active substance aprepitant and belongs to a group of drugs called neurokinin-1 receptor antagonists (NK1). There is a special area in the brain that controls nausea and vomiting. EMEND works by blocking signals in this area, reducing nausea and vomiting. EMEND is used with other medicines to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy (cancer treatment) in adults.
